What is the English Language Social Club?
English Language Social Club is a non-profit language learning community that meets regularly for social events with the sole purpose of practicing English and making friends.
The events are free of charge to attend, but with a minimum fee to pay for food and drink (and the entrance tickets if we go to the cinema).
Our recent events have had between 50-100 friends participating. It's usually the same group of friends, but any newcomers are welcome.
You will need to have at least a pre-intermediate level of English (A2) to take part.
At the event people usually gravitate towards others with a similar level.
We have every level from A2 to C2 advanced students, but the average level is about B2.
Our recent events have included:
- Cinema with original language, undubbed English language films
- Wine-tasting in English
and soon to come:
- Walking the Dog in English
- English Language Sports Club.
But what we seem to like best is bars and restaurants with a buffet where everyone can walk around and interact.
Come and join us. No appointment necessary. (If you have any doubts, call Miki on the number below.)
(See this page or English Language Social Club Facebook page for details.
Hi all. This is our next English Language Social Club event. Tuesday 11th February 2020. The location is a brand new bar in the centre of #Varese called Messer Vino (on the left of Pizzeria
Zei). It will cost €15 per person for the 'apericena' which will consist of 3 glasses of wine and 5 'paninetti'.
We will be there from about 19:00 onwards.
As usual, the rule is #EnglishOnly - don't worry about your level - there will be people of every level.
Feel free to invite your friends.
Thanks to Mr. Bravo for helping me organize it. We've been down to test all the wines beforehand - top quality!
Hi all. We are organizing three new events. This weekend we will be meeting a guy who will help us organize a 'Wine tasting in English'. (Probably early February.) Then we are having another aperitif / buffet in a beautiful place in Sacramonte (second half of February). Finally, I'm organizing a St. Patrick's night event too (for 17th March). All the dates are still to be confirmed, but Tuesday seems to be the best day for most of you. I will keep you all informed. 💪🧐🏴
Thanx everyone for the wonderful #English Language Social Night yesterday at the superb La
Piedigrotta Varese It was great to catch up with old and new friends.
See you all soon for more events in #Varese 💪😄🏴
Please accept our invitation to come and join the
ENGLISH LANGUAGE SOCIAL CLUB 2019 XMAS PARTY
The event will be held in the Piedigrotta restaurant. Via Gian Domenico Romagnosi, 9, 21100 Varese VA. (Near the Garibaldi statue).
Tuesday 10th December 2019 at 19:00 hrs.
We will be having a buffet-style event aimed at meeting new friends and getting to know other club members. As a consequence we have decided to organize the event, not as a sat-down dinner at table, but rather we will occupy one part of the restaurant where you will be able to move round and socialize.
Don’t forget that the main objective of the group is to meet and practice English, so we would recommend an intermediate level (B1 or higher).
Feel free to bring a friend.
We are expecting over 50 people so we need to know in advance as places are limited. To confirm: sms/whatsapp to Mickey or on the English Language Social Club Facebook page. See you there!
